Guided Meditation: A Villa by the Sea

Article by Stefanie Johnson

There are magical places that exist within each one of us, inside our minds, hearts, and souls. By visiting these places, we can tap into the infinite and bring peace and abundance into our lives.

Each journey will be unique, as we are unique, so you may want to have a notebook and pen nearby to record your experience afterward. You may choose to have another person read the meditation to you so you may experience it more fully.

Find a comfortable place, close your eyes, open your mind, and prepare yourself to travel within.

There is a time to journey, a time to see not only the outside world but also the world within yourself. However, this is not one of those times.

Now is the time for peace, for letting go of the things that have been troubling you.  Have a relaxing little vacation at the Villa by the Sea, and forget your responsibilities for a time.

You’re lying on a beach, and the sun is shining down on you.  You feel warm and safe, and the sound of the sea rolling in and out is very beautiful and soothing to you.  You take a sip of your favorite cold, refreshing drink, and close your eyes, reveling in the perfect day.

This time is yours.  There are no chores to do, no deadlines pressing down on you.

You get up and stretch, the sun beaming down on your skin.  A path leads up away from the beach, curling up the hill and leading to a magnificent Mediterranean-style white villa that you can see from where you are standing.  You take that path, the sun warming your back as you do so.

You reach the villa, climb up a couple of sun-baked stairs, and enter the building.  All the doors and windows are open wide to in the light and sweet-smelling breeze.  Sheer, gauzy white curtains wave gently as the wind from the sea caresses them.

It’s very quiet, peaceful here.  All you can hear is the surf, the occasional call of a seagull, and some soft, pleasant music that is playing somewhere far off.

The floor is tiled with terra cotta, and it is cool and pleasant on the soles of your bare feet as you pad across it.

You go to the balcony, where there is a large, plush couch for you to lay on, and a basket of exquisite fresh fruit for you to eat. You lie down on the luxuriously soft, comfortable couch and select a piece of fruit from the basket.  It’s perfectly ripe and wonderful.

(Which fruit do you take? Do you find yourself craving it even after you return to the physical world?)

After you have eaten your fill, you lie back again and close your eyes.  You’re deeply relaxed and happy.  Feel the sense of warmth and well being in every cell of your body.  Start at the crown of your head, and imagine it as a golden light flowing downwards, until every part of your body is glowing with it.

Feel yourself happy.  Feel yourself warm and well and relaxed.  Everything is good.  Everything is fine.

There’s nothing to worry about.  Just listen to the wind and the sea and feel the golden glow.  Slowly, as you are ready, keeping that feeling of warmth and well being with you, open your eyes.

The villa is here for you whenever you need some time to relax, where it is always sunny, beautiful, quiet and peaceful … just for you.

“Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts inevitably bring about right results.”
-James Allen

When winds are raging o’er the upper ocean
And billows wild contend with angry roar,
‘Tis said, far down beneath the wild commotion
That peaceful stillness reigneth evermore.
Far, far beneath, the noise of tempests dieth
And silver waves chime ever peacefully,
And no rude storm, how fierce soe’er it flyeth
Disturbs the Sabbath of that deeper sea.
-Harriet Beecher Stowe
