Real Value: Remembering What is Truly Precious

Article By Judy Mosley

Life will always be around us, no matter what might happen.”

So much has happened to the world in the last few months.  It seems that everything has changed, and we have been forced to change with it.  Some events were truly astounding and hopeful.  Yet there are many others that have grieved us more than we might have thought possible.

Yet no matter what situations we find ourselves in, there is always hope.  God has set this planet spinning in a forward motion.  That means today will never be tomorrow.  It also means that where we are right now, is not where we will be … if we choose to move forward with it.

And in all these difficult times we can remember what is really, truly important.  These are the things we should focus our time, attention, skills, and abilities on.  The good news is normally … all it requires is having an open heart.

Life

Close your eyes.  Take a deep breath.  Feel how that breath moves your entire body.  Try to remember everything that happens in that one single breath that you took.  The effects of it are astounding! Every minute of every day you breath.  You blink.  Your heart beats.  Your body moves without you even thinking about it.  You … are.

There is a Life force within us that keeps us moving forward.  It is a blessing that everyone of us has received, whether we choose to recognize it or not.  And it’s something that we can be grateful for, not just within ourselves, but in the people around us too.

Relationships

God has made this planet a place of connections.  We are all connected to each other and we get the opportunity to make the most out of those connections.

Think about the people that are in the room with you right now.  Think about your spouse, your child, father, mother, sibling, or your friends.  Now, I realize that one of many of these relationships may have suffered damage.  But they don’t have to remain that way.

We get the chance to love the people that have been placed in our lives, to get outside of ourselves and enjoy the Life that is within each other.  This is a gift and not one that we should take lightly.

The Earth

Have you seen spring yet?  Have you noticed the blooms, the colors, the scents?  Have you cut into a tomato or a cucumber and been awakened by the wonder smell?  The Earth continues to produce, whatever we have done to it in the past … and where ever we are right now in our own lives.  The overabundance of Life within the earth hasn’t stopped.

In time like these, it is easy to forget the glory and majesty that is all around us, even in the tiniest things, like a bee or a dandelion … and to be thankful for it all.  The sun rises and the moon shines. The wind still blows our face while the trees respond with their dance.  There is so much movement in the world that we can be thankful for when we choose to pay attention.

Life cannot be stopped.

It’s one of the truly amazing things about where we are in this world.  Life will always be around us, no matter what might happen.  However, we can do what we can to make the most of what we’ve been given.

And in return, we will find our lives more blessed that we could have possibly imagined.
