Guided Meditation: The Moonlit Waterfall

Article by Make The Days Count Contributor Stefanie Johnson
There are magical places that exist within each one of us, inside our minds, hearts, and souls. By visiting these places, we can tap into the infinite and bring peace and abundance into our lives. Each journey will be unique, as we are unique, so you may want to have a notebook and pen nearby to record your experience afterward. You may choose to have another person read the meditation to you so you may experience it more fully. Find a comfortable place, close your eyes, open your mind, and prepare yourself to travel within.
This week, we will explore the Moonlit Waterfall. Inside the Moonlit Waterfall, you can find serenity, cleansing, and relaxation.
It’s a beautiful evening, warm and balmy. A round, silver, full moon hangs in the soft indigo sky above you. You can hear crickets singing from the tall trees all around you. Fireflies flicker from the foliage and shrubbery, and the air is sweet with honeysuckle. Someone is singing a song. A low, beautiful, soothing song, and you hum along happily.
(What song do you hear? What memories and feelings does it evoke?)
You walk through the darkness, with no path before you, no landmarks, humming to this soothing song in an unknown landscape.
Yet, you aren’t afraid.
You know there is nothing in this darkness you need to doubt.
You know there is nothing in this darkness you need to worry about.
You know there is nothing in this darkness that will harm you.
This is the darkness of peace, and rejuvenation, like the warm darkness of the earth that seeds sleep in while they await the spring. This darkness is the place of your sleep, the place you come to renew your soul. You could stay here in this peace, and be content. But there is something more you seek here, and a guide is being sent to show you the way.
A tiny flicker comes toward you through the darkness. At first it looks like nothing but a firefly, weaving toward you between the trunks of the trees, but as it approaches you it grows larger and larger. You see that it’s not a firefly at all, but a glowing guardian, a guide, to show you the way to the waterfall.
(How does your guardian appear to you?)
You follow the guide, and they speak to you of things you have been thinking about, wondering about.
(What does your guardian say to you?)
Two crossed trees block the path to the waterfall, and there seems to be no way to move them. You look to the guardian to aid you, but the guardian says that this is a task you can and must do on your own if you wish to go on. You focus on the crossed trees, and you know what you must do, and there is no question that you have the ability to do it.
(How do you remove the trees from your path?)
Once you are past the obstruction of the crossed trees, you guardian bows to you, and slowly recedes back into the velvety night. You can call the guardian anytime you are in need, but you are not in need now.
Before you is a tall, magnificent waterfall. This is what you have come to find, the point of your journey. The silvery water cascades down into a lovely, placid lagoon. Flowering trees grow on the banks of the lagoon, and flower petals float on the water.
You disrobe. You are not only removing your clothing, you are removing the layers of mental baggage and negativity that have been covering and smothering you. You step into the cleansing lagoon, which is warm and fragrant. You swim in the clean, clear waters, and every muscle in your body feels soothed and rejuvenated. You swim to the place where the silvered waterfall flows into the lagoon, and let the pure waters rush over you.
You are purified of all negativity.
You are purified of all toxins.
You are clean and refreshed and rested.
Now, slowly, savoring those feelings of cleansing and relaxation, holding them with you, open your eyes. Know that the Moonlit Waterfall is here for you whenever you need to feel purified.
I was honored to serve as your guide on this journey within. I hope we will travel together again soon.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
