Start Your Day With What’s Right In Your Life

Stop.  Take a moment wherever you are and listen. Close your eyes.  Let yourself be quiet.  What can you hear?  What have you been missing amidst all the daily hustle and bustle that weʼve all fallen into?  Now, take a deep breath.  Draw it in like a cool drink of water.  Let it out slowly with intentional delight. The next breath is yours as well.

 

I want to ask you something.  You will need a pen and some paper.  I want to know . . .

 

Whatʼs right with your life?

 

Itʼs so easy to be negative.  Every day, we are bombarded with whatʼs wrong in our world.  Today it’s the economy, jobless claims, fear of recession to name only a few.  We listen to the news, hoping for valuable information, but walk away feeling powerless. We take it mostly because we think itʼs what we should be doing, but also because weʼre used to it.

 

So … how will you respond?  Whatʼs right with your life?

 

We need something different. We need something better that will give us a clearer vision of what is right with our lives and what we can change. If we believe that we are powerless, then we will be.  But, if we stop and shift our thinking for a moment, we can build a platform to stand on in this sometimes crazy world.

 

What is it that’s good for you in your life?

What makes you smile?

What made you laugh this morning?

What did you finally accomplish?

What were you able to let go of?

What are you looking forward to?

Who is it that you have the best relationship with?

What wonderful memory was triggered unexpectedly?

Who were you glad to see today?

What surprised you?

What opened your heart?

What moved you to tears?

What truth did you witness?

How did you help someone?

How did someone help you?

What gave you focus?

What enabled you to relax?

What song did you sing?

Whom did you share your heart with?

Whom did you bless?

Who blessed you?

What was your favorite part of yesterday?

What will be your favorite part of today?

Whom did you show love to?

Who showed love to you?

 

Now, make a list.  Write down whatʼs right, as many as you want to. It’s ok if you don’t have an answer for every question … after all, each of is unique.  What is right for one person may not be for another.  This is simply an exercise in gratitude and sharing.

 

Think of the simple things, or the large ones that you feel you could not do without.  Your list will be even more meaningful to you if you share whatʼs right with someone else.  Call them.  Send them an email.  Give them the same opportunity to answer these questions for themselves.  Make a forward and send it to as many people as you like, asking them to pass on whatʼs right in their life to others.

 

So, how do you feel in this moment?  What change did this make on the inside?  Has your day changed at all?  Do you see some things that you might have forgotten?  It is so easy to forget the little things (and many of the big things) that make our life blessed that sometimes we simply need to stop for a minute and take inventory.

 

So start your day with whatʼs right in your life!  It can make all the difference.  And who knows, you might even end up on the news for a good reason!
